What are the most popular job boards in Europe
There are big differences in the share of job boards by country in Europe. When you look at the top 5, you see almost half of the market is dominated by one job board. In Bulgaria 52% is dominated by Jobs.bg, Norway's Finn takes up 49%, Denmark's Jobindex 45% but also in Croatia (Moj-posao.net 43%) and Spain (Infojobs.com 42%) the majority of the labour market is searching for jobs on the same platform.
One/fifth of Europe is fragmented
In Portugal (22%), Belgium (22%), Switzerland (20%), Lithuania (19%) and Germany (19%) the job board market leader only takes up 1/5 of the market. In Italy this percentage is the lowest with only 15% (infojobs.com). On the other hand, infojobs.com is the most popular in Spain with a convincing 42% which tells us the market in Italy is much more fragmented than Spain.
Local heroes are succesful
It is remarkable to see that local companies are also the local heroes. The majority (85%) of the countries have a local player as the most popular job board. If you would like to recruit internationally it makes sense to consult or cooperate with one of those local heroes. Leading international job boards like Indeed.com and Monster.com are rarely mentioned as the favourite. Indeed is number 1 in The Netherlands and the United Kingdom and Monster.com is the most popular job board in Germany. This means that there is still a lot of potential as an international job board to become more popular in Europe.
How to distinguish yourself?
When the market is very scarce it is of great importance to know where to find the right candidate. In a market where there is one dominant leader it seems more logic to place your vacancy there. Finding the right channel is important and one part of your recruitment strategy. If you know the motives that add up to the candidate experience from your target group this can be of great value in which you can distinguish yourself. Perhaps also from your competitors. If you would like to know more details about your target group, then the European Recruitment Dashboard from Intelligence Group is the recruitment tool to bring your recruitment game to the next level.
The data for this specific research comes from our own Global Talent Acquisition Monitor (GTAM) which is a large-scale study of the labour potential on the European labour market. The GTAM has been conducted in 28 European countries with approximately 60,000 respondents being questioned. We also asked them what their favourite job board is.
