Webinar: How do I make money with my job board in 2026

For more than fifteen years, people have been writing about the “end” of job boards. And yet, up until 2023, these were actually boom years: the market was growing and job boards played a central role in the recruitment landscape. On 21 January 2026, Geert-Jan Waasdorp will host a webinar on this topic.

What can you expect?

Over the past two years, however, this picture has fundamentally shifted. Due to a cooling labor market, the increasingly dominant position of LinkedIn and Indeed in recruitment budgets, and changing search and orientation behavior among candidates, the traditional job board model is under heavy pressure.

Organizations that continue to approach job boards from a traditional perspective will, unless they operate in a very sharp niche with an extremely low cost structure, likely have to slowly close their digital doors in the coming years. The expectation is that by around 2030, approximately 90% of today’s job boards will have disappeared.

The winners of tomorrow fundamentally differentiate themselves. They do things differently by:

  • actively investing in GEO (Generative Engine Optimization);
  • building a sustainable ecosystem of employers;
  • positioning themselves as a network, platform, and community;
  • leveraging and enriching the data they already possess;
  • acting as a reliable ambassador in the field of security and resilience.

It is not the job board that is disappearing, but the traditional job board. Only those that reinvent themselves will remain relevant.
