Top 10 job boards Germany: Careerjet by far the number 1

The list of the top 10 most used job boards presents which job boards employers and intermediaries use in their search for personnel. According to our analysis of Jobfeed data, Careerjet was the most widely used job board in Germany by employers and intermediaries last year. However, when we look at which job board was used the most for recruiting highly educated people, Careerjet falls to the second place. Rather, StepStone is the most used job board for vacancies aimed at highly educated candidates.

Top 10 used job boards in Germany

With more than double the amount of vacancies than the number two, Careerjet is by far the most used job board among German employers and intermediaries. Whereas the number two, Regiobizz, has a total of 4,212,692 vacancies online, Careerjet has 10,620,526 vacancies. This is a big difference compared to last year, when Careerjet was in ninth place and StepStone was the most used job board. This year StepStone fell to third place. The job boards JoZoo and JobFinder are also in the top 10 this year, while they did not even come close to this last year.

When we discard the vacancies of intermediaries from the data and look at the most used job boards by direct employers, we see that Careerjet is still the number one job board. However, the difference between the number of vacancies on Careerjet (3,709,204) and the number two, StepStone (3,035,386), is considerably smaller when vacancies of intermediaries are discarded.

The difference between educational levels

It is striking that when looking at the most used job board to recruit highly educated Germans, Careerjet has been knocked off the first place by StepStone. RegioBizz is also considerably less popular when recruiting highly educated candidates instead of low and intermediate educated candidates. On the other hand, XING is more popular. While XING ranks seventh for the vacancies targeting low and intermediate educated candidates, it is the third most used job board when recruiting highly educated candidates.

In the top 10, there are more noticeable differences between vacancies for low/intermediate educated candidates and highly educated candidates. While Azubi.be has managed to secure a place in the top 10 for vacancies for the low and intermediate educated, this job site is not in the top 10 for vacancies for highly educated candidates. The opposite is true for Glassdoor. This vacancy site cannot be found in the top 10 for candidates with a low and intermediate education level.
