Top 10 German job boards 2019: Indeed.de moves into the top spot

You are desperate for new German recruits, but where do you place the advertisement in order to find the right candidate? Monster.de is the most popular job board among all Germans, while Indeed is the leading job board among active job seekers. To successfully reach German candidates, it is essential to know which job sites to use.

When searching for a new job, the majority of Germans tend to look on job sites. In 2019, more than half (54%) used a job board in their search of a new job. Search engines follow at 41%, while 33% look for internal vacancies

Indeed.de the most popular job board

Our international research shows that Indeed is now the leader among all job boards in Germany, surpassing both Monster and Stepstone. 39% of all active job seekers used Indeed in 2019 to search for a job. That is a 10% increase compared to 2018, when only 29% used Indeed to find a new job.

There are more shake-ups in the rankings. The aforementioned Stepstone lost its first spot, moving to 48% in 2018 to a mere 31% in 2019: a staggering 17% drop. Monster.de also lost ground on its competitors, a 5% decrease meant the company goes from second to third, with a total of 29% in 2019.

LinkedIn moves up

Social media platforms, such as Xing and LinkedIn, became a more popular job board choice. In 2019, nearly one-fifth of all Germans used Xing to look for a job. Meanwhile, LinkedIn’s popularity rose to 11 percent, nearly doubling the total amount of 2018 (6%).

An interesting addition to the top 10 is ebay-kleinanzeigen.de, as it is primarily marketplace, albeit with the occasional job ad. 6% of all active job seekers in Germany searched there for a job.
